A Good Night's Rave

"I guess we've all had nights where we've gone to a dance event with high expectations, all psyched up and 'up for it' only to be disappointed by the experience. Anyone any suggestions or tips for increasing the odds in favour of a A Good Night's Rave?"

Here are a few to begin with...

  • You own mindset is one of the biggest contributors to a good or bad night. Make sure your thoughts are positive. Feel good about yourself. Be active rather than passive - don't expect the event to deliver enjoyment to you on a plate - you have to contribute maybe 80 per cent yourself.

  • Don't go out expecting everything to be 'just perfect', and while you're there try not to compare the event with your own benchmark ideal rave. Be happy that each party will be unpredictably different.

  • Rather than being too interested in your own experience/enjoyment of the event, put some effort into making other people feel good - smile a lot, shake hands, give hugs etc. I've noticed that when complete strangers connect with me like this, my enjoyment of the night is enhanced hugely.

  • This might sound obvious, but DANCE... Give yourself totally to the music, let it become part of you.
