PORTFOLIO: HAZE

Haze has been involved in the dance scene since the early Acid house days since attending the parties most influential on his career, i.e. Tribal Dance, Perception, Universe and various other underground and free parties.

As a DJ, Haze has been playing out since 1992 starting off with the vibrant free parties surrounding the West country and Wales (which he continues to do today), moving on to establish his own club night in 1995 called Strange Fruit.

Since taking up residence in Bristol, Strange Fruit has survived the sea of other party promoters to emerge as the top Techno night in town, consistently pulling in capacity crowds all over the city, whist continuing on a resident and underground guest policy with the occasional " name" for good measure.

Strange Fruit was four years old in January 1999 and Haze remains as enthusiastic about the scene today as ever. With plays around the country and in Europe for '99', work on the DJ front is looking busier than ever and thoughts are turning towards production work with several tracks already in the pipeline.

Music style ......................... Haze plays techno of all styles, the preferred sound at present is hard, deep, funky, percussive techno with hints of acid and the occasional vocal snippet, left to his own devices this is what you will get, he is however a versatile DJ and can cater for any style within the scope of Techno. Tapes are readily available at your request as well as a full portfolio of previous and forthcoming DJ appearances.

Strange Fruit presently have a mailing list of some 800 names who receive at least 4 newsletters a year as well as any flyers or relevant info connected to the party scene. Any bookings received for Haze will be included in our mail outs and sent directly to the homes of 800 people who may be interested in your event!! Please contact us at your leisure for any further information you may require and we will be happy to tell you more.

PORTFOLIO: LUGE

Luge has been Djing for more than half his life. Starting of as a mobile DJ at the tender age of eleven, he has seen all the relevant progressional changes of dance music since the mid eighties.

By 1986 Luge was mixing Chicago house music and by 1989 he was mixing in commercial clubs in Bristol on a regular basis, mainly playing warm-ups due to the diversity of the underground style of dance music that he played.

In 1991, Luge took to the road, enjoying much success around the country in places such as Cardiff, Birmingham and Folkestone, playing at raves and underground parties on a monthly basis, such as Spiral Tribe and Circus Warp. These free parties are listed by Luge as being a major influence on his musical style and direction.

Returning to Bristol a couple of years later, Luge took up the more secure option of a residency in an up-and-coming Bristol club for over a year. It was here that he met up with the BS11 Crew and starting putting on the Beyond Control parties at various venues in and around Bristol.

This was to lead on to a regular spot in late '94 - early '95 on pirate radio station Power Passion FM playing hardhouse/techno.

It was whilst working at Power FM that a chance meeting with DJ Haze led to Luge becoming a resident at top Bristol techno night Strange Fruit where he has remained for the past four years.

Music Style ..................... Luge plays all types of techno from happy, bouncy beats to tough industrial basslines and his sets are a mixed bag which any music journalist would find hard to put a tag on. However he can cater for all tastes under the banner of techno. Further plays around the country and work in the studio are set to keep Luge busy throughout 1998.
