As you can see I'm still a dedicated analogue man, I never did like
digital sound and have found no reason to change my mind as time has
gone by. Hands up, I do own 2 or 3 CDs but they only get played in my
computer's CD drive, I don't own, and never will own, a CD player for my
Hi-Fi.
If you're interested and don't recognise it already, my system consists
of a Linn Sondek turntable with Ekos tonearm and Troika cartridge (it
needs replacing but I can't afford it!), amplification and tuner are by
Naim Audio - NAC 32-5 preamp, Hi-Cap PSU, NAP 250 power amp., NAT 101
tuner and SNAPS tuner PSU - and Linn Isobarik loudspeakers. I guess it
looks a bit dated now but it still sounds good and is my pride and joy!
My record collection consists of 400-500 albums going back to the early
60's and covering almost anything you can think of from Shirley Bassey
to 'Happy Hardcore Fever'. Special favourites are The Beatles, Genesis
(1970-1978), Kate Bush, Clive Gregson & Christine Collister, June Tabor,
The The, Early Eurythmics, Led Zeppelin, Thomas Dolby, Frank Zappa (RIP),
Kathryn Tickell, the Dreamscape 19 tapes, any Clarkee tapes, etc., etc.
One of my best ever investments was a Sony Walkman Pro - not one of the
smallest Walkmans you've ever seen but the sound is out of this world!
Despite all of the above I find myself recording new albums and
listening to them on the Walkman now! :-)
