Introducing Preponderance Records
Based in London and bringing the full spectrum of drum & bass / jungle sounds
from Bristol and the South West - dedicated to delivering dark funky low
frequencies at excessive levels, as the name of the label suggests.
The Preponderance DJ collective joined together over a year ago with their
Preponderance record label aimed at giving small artists a well deserved
chance to put their music to vinyl.
All the Preponderance DJs have there own styles of DJing Drum & Bass/Jungle
with DJs like DJ Bunjy - a fully fledged member of Bristol Exposure crew known
for their parties throughout the south-west bringing all styles of music
together. Bunjy has been flexing the funk in all areas of music for 10 years
playing all the big raves including Tribal Gathering, Helter Skelter, Bristol
Exposure, Dreamscape, Devotion Dance Paradise, in the US, Ireland and Sweden.
Mastervibe is also no newcomer to the scene, DJing at all the events listed
above. He spends all his time taking over Cornwall with his audacious sounds.
Newcomer DJ Ming adds the finishing touches to this DJ collective with his
funky flavas and last but not least the MC - the versatile one Joe Peng to
round up the crew. The Preponderance collective have already had some major
events @ Lakota (Bristol) and @ Tall Trees (Newquay).

'Soul Controller' is a collaboration between DJ Bunjy & Mastervibe, who have
both been DJing on the scene for some time, often together, at events such as
Tribal Gathering, Helter Skelter, Bristol Exposure, Dreamscape, Devotion,
Dance Paradise and many more. It was Dreamscape in '95 that brought them
together when they did a back-to-back and the sparks flew.
Bunjy is a fully fledged member of the Bristol Exposure crew and he flexes the funk in all
areas including his hardcore projects, releasing tracks on Bristol Exposure's
own label. He has done some tunes and a mixed CD for the 'DJs Take Control No.3' album released through Kickin
Records, the best selling DJs Take Control so far.
Mastervibe debuted his drum'n'bass skills last year with tracks released on
Bassrush Records in the States. He also creates a unique style of breakbeat
techno for Area 51 Recordings and spends the rest of his time DJing around
this country, as well as the US, playing D'n'B in Baltimore, Florida, Kentucky
and New York.
Releases
PRE00l - Soul Controller - 'Statik' / 'Outsiders Theme'
'Statik' is a jump-up gritty bad moody tune providing atmospherics over a big
bouncing phat bass line with a wicked rough break. 'Outsiders Theme' chums
along, breaking boundaries with an epic dark sound, sharpened beats and a fog
horn bass line. Not for the faint hearted, charted number two in Echoes jungle
chart for two weeks and it went down a storm in the States and Japan.
PRE002 - Soul Controller - 'Black Soul' / 'Clones'
Back on April 27th, with their second release for preponderance records, South
West boyz Soul Controller take control of the dark funky low frequencies.
Here they conjure up 'Black' Soul' a melodic bubbler with its bongo frenzy
leading into a kick-start with a phat crisp break, joined by a bionic bass
line. All the ingredients for an ass shaker. On the flip side 'Clones' brings
a quantum sub-sonic, dark stepper churning along with its cyber tekno flava.
If you have heard Kenny Ken play out or his Kiss FM show, you may have caught
this track being caned. We may have a limited number of promos for sale only
available from here so keep an eye on this space.
PRE003 - Mastervibe - 'Chojin' / 'Lets Roll'
Preponderance get set to release their 3rd record, debuting the insane
workings of South West mad man Mastervibe. 'Chojin' is a dark funky roller
with crisp breaks and some warbly synth effects, severe sub-sonic bass
business - definite dancefloor destruction.
On the flip Mastervibe takes the quantum frequencies somewhere audacious with
'Lets Roll' and it does roll, with its chopped up aman and relentless militant
drums that fuck with your head, complete with devasting bass - watch your
bassbins with this one. A really twisted tune.
If you would like to purchase any Preponderance 12" pre001 / pre002 (£3 each
