A community centre in the heart of St. Pauls, 'Malcolm X' consists of a main
room with a very high ceiling and a smaller room upstairs. It is occasionally
used for Jungle or Trance events but being in a residential area means that
those events have become fewer and fewer until, at the time of writing this
update (Nov. '97), there are very few dance events held there at all.
Sadly the Malcolm X Centre has become best known as the place where Evon
"Bangy" Berry worked as caretaker - he was shot in St. Pauls in late '96
trying to stop a street robbery and was a very popular character in the area
so is sadly missed.
